It's been more than two years since the Sesame Street
Music Works toolkit took the world of preschool
music making by storm. Now, the award-winning kit and
its Music Makes Wonders video presentation are
available on a DVD featuring children and Muppet characters
who learn that anyone can make music.
The kit is built around the video and an activity guide
containing tips for making simple instruments, activities
for learning and self-expression, developmental information,
tips on using the other components of the kit and information
on how music making can enhance a child's ability to
learn and grow. The kit also contains a colorful poster
and other Sesame Street-themed materials that
enhance enjoyment for both kids and parents.

The Sesame
Music Zone Web site is an online music-learning
center for children and grownups to enjoy together!
Sesame Music Zone was designed by child development
and music education experts, and offers interactive
educational games and activities led by your child's
favorite Sesame Street friends. Sing along with
Bob McGrath, dance with Zoe, or tap a beat with Oscar!
Children will have endless opportunities for learning
through creative play that builds on their natural attraction
to music and their interest in music making.
Children learn and grow with music. Four exciting
areas within Sesame Music Zone make learning
fun with engaging activities that progressively reinforce
each lesson: Musical Places, Song Bites, Global Groove
and Sesame Street Operas.

Before exploring the Music
Zone website, you may want to try these activities
with your child for some instant musical fun!
Words to Sing By
Try making up new words to a simple song and help
children to do the same. They might make funny rhymes,
include their own names, use silly sounds, or tell
a whole new story. And remember, every time you sing
a favorite song, your child can learn new words!
Drumming Dialogue
Encourage children to create their own drum rhythms
and patterns that you can copy. Then ask children
to copy you. Start with just a few beats and add a
beat or change the pattern each time. Invite children
to count the beats!
